ok, so if i take the truck to a diesel shop (there's some place back home that is "the" place to go to have your diesel worked on)......what will they do? Just check the LP? What about the VP-44? How?

VP44 started dying at 3,500 miles.
Finally replaced under warranty at 4,000 miles, kept getting the "can't duplicate problem" from Dealership.
No idea what the failure was, probably electronic due to newness of truck.

Original lift pump still there at 49,000 miles.

Bought truck in March, VP started dying in May, replaced in June.

Utah truck it's whole life.

1999 3/4 4x4 QC 86,000 VP44 and Lift Pump both at Cummins NW. Lift pump sometime within the last 12,000 miles (last filter change it primed the system. The new lift pump lasted 3,000 miles. Last week Cummins put a new one under warranty. Hope this one lasts a bit longer.

2001.5 1ton 4x4QC HO Both toast under warranty at 50,000miles.

Angry vp-44 pump (junk truck)

Well I am here to advertize, the terrible service that I have been having ( ALL THE TRUTH)
Steering was over $5000.00 dallars out of warranty. Big thank you for that.
Engine since new, is gutless junk.
Drivers seat sagged out at less than 50.000 Km's I am not heavy 210 lbs.
And more.
Replaced
Many air filters.
Many fuel filters.
Set of injectors.
3 MAPS
2 IAT
1 CKP
5 L/P's
1 VP-44
1 ECM
39 Visits for ????? ( Bad voltage my suspicion, is caused by incorrectly seated ECM plug from factory)
Over 50,000 Km's for some form of what they call service!!!

neveragain,

How possibly can the steering cost $5K??

How does replacing air and fuel filters make the truck junk??

Id say 5 lift pumps is a liitle much but if this happened to me I would have been getting a fuel pressure guage and a pusher pump. Ive only changed the LP on my 01 once. You always knock your truck when you post on here...is there anything you like about it??

Yes, VP44 is the Injection Pump. (If you hit shift the "44" becomes "$$")

1st VP 160K, 2nd VP 15K (heat?), Blue Chip VP installed last night.

1st LP 88K (warranty), 2nd LP replaced with FASS at 160K

Truck calls Ohio home, but has criss crossed the country quite a bit in the last two years.

Year/Model truck - 2002
Mileage at problem(s) - (50K - LP), (55K - VP44)
Costs - $0 - Warrranty Work
Replacements - Factory Replacements
Why? Low fuel pressure for too long... Needed a fuel pressure guage... tripped the dreded P0216 error code.

All second Gen trucks should of come with a fuel pressure guage from the factory.
