Overhead Console

I would like to upgrade my overhead console to include compass, etc. Can anyone let me know what parts I will need to to this?

I just need to replace the door on mine. Anyone know if you can replace the door or is it more complicated?

RJKR I didn't notice a year but what do you mean by upgrade? do you have one and want a newer? or want to do one from scratch?
Junkees would be your best bet but be careful when your pulling it off, the fine high quality plastic that doge uses breaks like eggs

I did mine a couple months ago all you need is the computer display, wire harness that runs down the pillar to the junction box and the wire that runs up your hood to the temperature sensor. The whole job took me half a day, inlcuding rpping it out of a wreked 99 V-10, milage isn't close 29 mpg versus 18 actual but I wanted the temp and compass only anyway. Everything is plug and play no extra wiring needed at least in my case from a 99 to 01.5

Junkyards will be the only way you will want to do this upgrade Dodge will kill you in costs.

Depending which door you're talking about. I replaced the sunglass holder (other door is a garage switch holder/weed holder ) Don't really use that door, but wish I had the homelink option as it would eliminate my 1920's style remote which does not work with the switch holder...

I broke my sunglass door when I noticed the clip was not holding as well so, like an idiot, I tried to bend it out just a little and the latch broke off.

Got a buddy who works at a body shop to pick me up one. ~25 bucks. Was pretty **** easy to install. There are some spring clips that ride on the hinge. They hold the sucker in and also act as a friction point on the hinge in a cam like fashion.
The only challenge is to hold both clips up while removing and replacing.

Yeah CB it is my sunglass door, not the weed door . Do you have to remove the whole unit to fix it, or can you just get the door off? I haven't really studied it much to see how it all comes apart. Thanks

You can take just the door off. It was not a problem at all on my '01. Again the difficulty is holding the 2 metal tangs/clips off of the hinge in order to allow the removal and replacement of the door. No need to remove the console, just the door

My sunglass door went also. I used JBWeld and a piece of sheet copper bent to form. It doesn't look totally stock (Not grey POS plastic) but ot works great. I also used the same stuff to fix the cup holder after it had a run in with a flying briefcase I rhink the JB is stronger then original stuff and it takes well to a Dremel.

Anyone got a PN on the old sunglass door. I also noticed mine wasn't holding tight enough so I figured I'd break it instead. 25 bucks for a stupid piece of plastic... think I might just rip mine off but I gotta say it has always been pretty handy.

I have seen those overhead consoles sell on ebay before. Not sure what they go for though.
