overboost code truck falling flat on its face
overboost code truck falling flat on its face
i'm getting i think its p0234 (? bad memory) but its the overboost code. and when i start to wind up boost wise the truck feels like it falls flat on its face during acceleration. is there a way to stop the truck from shutting me down cause tahts what i'm assuming its doing?
I don't know much about codes, but that's what it feels like when the MAP sensor goes bad...a little acceleration...then it flatlines...I hope that is it because you can get replacements at most auto parts stores.
Yes that is the over boost code. That's not a bad thing either. It is basically telling you that you are boosting over computer controlled limits. You need a boost fooler if the va doesn't have one or has quit working.
Not sure about the falling flat on it face though.

Or, could be a bad MAP sensor, not giving enough signal for the boost fooler to realize there's any boost being made.

wastegate isn't jammed i checked it and its an aftermarket turbo.
its a really old v/a chip that just plugs in behind the injection pump (is that the map sensor plug in people are talking about) and if it was the map sensor shouldn't there be one other code?
also without a boost fooler would it cause it to stop boosting? or stop fueling?
and i'm looking into getting hte tst pm3 for a stacker would that fix it?

The MAP sensor is at the back of the head, just ahead of the IAT sensor. If the VA doesn't plug into it, then its not boost fooling. When the ECM sees an overboost condition, its supposed to pull fuel back until it comes back down. I'm pretty sure a TST is a boost fooling box. If it plugs into the MAP sensor, good chance its a boost fooler.
