Over Boost Code question

Truck has continued to throw a p0234 over boost code even after i have cleared it multiple times. Im curious about which sensor is setting this code and what i can do to keep it from defueling when it senses over boost, can i dissconnect something?

I had that code and found that the wastegate was stuck closed. cleaned up things and it works fine now. had a bunch of the exhaust manifold scale stuff on the mechanism preventing it from moving.

kpeterson,

A malfunctioning wastegate actuator (including leaky hose) will cause a P0234 as well.

If that works fine, you might want to have a look at your MAP sensor.

A box will take care of boost/defuelling

That is a very common problem.

My '01 has the same problem, but I can't seem to get it unstuck. Anyone have any tips?

I disconnected the actuator rod from the wastegate and tried PB blaster and vice grips, as well as PB blaster and tapping on the wastegate flapper with a hammer. It won't break free - what's the trick to freeing this sucker up?!?!

I haven't had any experience with the stuck wastegate, but the sensor that will throw the code is your intake manifold pressure sensor A.K.A. map sensor...it's located toward the back of the block on the drivers side of the motor just under the intake manifold...mounts in the side of the block

No, it's definitely not the map sensor. I put a boost guage on it and it spikes to 26 psi and then the truck feels like it falls flat on it face (probably defueling?).

I do have the overboost code set by the map, and that's why I put the boost guage on it. After checking a few things, I've found that the wastegate is stuck shut.

It's been raining here so I haven't had another chance to work on it, but any tips from somone who has gotten theirs unfrozen would be greatly appreciated.
