one-time start-up issue
Several weeks ago - on a 12F morning after sitting in the driveway for a week, block heater plugged in - my truck had a bad start-up. First time I've seen it do this, however, so I thought I'd ask...
Engine turned over and seemed like it was idling on four cylinders - very rough. A fair amount of white smoke. Turned it off, restarted - same issue. Tried to rev it slowly and couldn't. Turned it off, restarted - and the problems disappeared immediately - normal start-up, idle, and revving. Haven't seen the problem since. Checked for codes, none. I use a combination of winter Power Service and a good 2-cycle oil to condition the fuel - as far as I could see through the glass filter bowls in my aux fuel tank and my lift pump, the fuel had not gelled. VP-44, all sensors including MAP, replaced. Relatively new fuel filters. Curious to know whether there are known cold-weather issues with circuitry, valves, etc., in this engine - it behaved as though something was "stuck", shorted, etc. I'm towing a trailer into western Canada in less than a month. |
Long set time may have something to do with issue. With the time indicated a bleed down of a couple injectors may have occured. Make sure all mechancial connections are tight and the filter cover is adequatelly tightened. With long cold soaks, I would not be real concerned at this time.
