Angry oil in turbo intake ?

i just bought my truck a little more than a month ago and the other night i was doing a service (oil and fuel filter change) when i seen a slight amount of oil leaking out the back of the intake side of the turbo (where the big c-clip holds it onto the body of the turbo) when i pulled off the intake there was a film of oil starting to build up on the turbo so i pulled off the lower boost boot the one right below the turbo and it had the same thing a film of oil . when i brought the truck to cummins they told me this was normal and think the guy who owned the truck befor me had a pluged air filter and that caused the oil to be sucked into the intake ? what im asking is does this sound right to you guys ? i kind of think there blowing smoke up my *** . ive always been told that oil should not ever be on the intake of the turbo?
but now cummins is telling me different? what should i do?
ps the dealer put a new air filter on befor i bought the truck.

Excessive oil is bad, a light film is OK. If too much oil goes does get through the intake and starts to fill up the intercooler, then what can happen is that the oil can get sucked into the cylinders and burn. Not a light burn but usually enough to sustain combustion without diesel fuel. That is bad, that is what is known as diesel runaway. That is an extreme thing to happen, and you have to have one heck of a leak to get there.

Even with a plugged filter the turbo should not suck oil past the shaft seal. Find out how far the oil has progressed in your intake, hopefully none has collected in the bottom of the intercooler.
