Oil Pressure Switch

The oil pressure switch on my 99 24v has died. Any suggestions on where I can get one? The dealer wants $350 to replace it

Also, can anyone tell me, for a FACT if the oil pressure switch would be covered under the 100K mile engine warranty?

Thanks!
GT

GT do a search with the search button at the top of this page and you should find the information. Type in oil psi switch and then do a warranty search also. If you have no luck get back to us on this thread and we will get back to yuh. I have seen a lot on both of your questions and think you'll get the info you need. Good luck and God Bless

Re:Oil Pressure Switch

I tried the search on the threads - lots of good info, but... didn't help.

I could find no info on the warranty question (is the oil pressure switch covered under the 100K engine warranty).

If it is not - I'll change it myself. Where can I get the switch, and do I need any special tools?

Thanks

Re:Oil Pressure Switch

Check here for the closest Cummins Parts distributor to your location, then give 'em a call.
The switch should be much cheaper from them than the dealer.

Re:Oil Pressure Switch

G T,

I had this problem back in July. If you do a search for "Oil Pressure Question?" or look at posts by me you will find the information you need. I went into detail with all the parts numbers you will need . When I had the right parts it only took 15 minutes also the exact sensor was about $80. The post was started on July 20.

Hope this helps.

Re:Oil Pressure Switch

Thanks. This board is great ;D - I've found a cummins dealer and now I know the part #.

P/N 4088390 = $70

*AND* I just checked my tool chest and I already have a 1-1/4" deep well socket

You guys just saved me about $280...

Re:Oil Pressure Switch

The old one is the 3 connector type. I don't have the new one yet - will get it later this week. From one of the previous posts, however, it should be an identical unit...

Re:Oil Pressure Switch

they sold me a updated one, turns out it's just a on and off to your oil p guage plus the e.c.m. would need a reflash to make it compute "on or off" so I elected to go back to the old style so there is some idea of amount of oil p.
let me know if what you get is the 3 prong one? thanx

Re:Oil Pressure Switch

Hello, I just ordered the sender #4088390 nx for my 99 24v and dont know of the location of the old sender, could any one tell me of its location. I have been having the same problem that you all are having, with the gauge pinned on the high side and every once in a while it drops to zero then goes back up. When it hits zero the gauge light goes on and dings, driving Me crazy. The Cummins guys charged me $92.11 and a $27.00 core charge. :'( :'(

Re:Oil Pressure Switch

It's behind and just below the Fuel Filter/Water Separator. See: http://www.dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/mt_...l_sys_comp.htm for a pic.

Re:Oil Pressure Switch

Thanks for the help, That was the easyest thing I haver ever fixed. The sender I used was the same style as the original, no conversion kit needed.
