Question Odd fuel readings.

I recently installed an Autometer z series electric gauge. I used the shrader valve test port and an adapter hose from Genos garage that goes from the shrader directly to a 1/8 npt. Well the readings were really odd. At first start it would read 15 lbs then as I was driving 45mph +- go to 6 lbs (and bounce around randomly). NOW if I mash the peddel at this speed it would go back up to about 12 lbs. So if figured that the hose and shrader valve were the problem. I bought a tapped banjo that goes in place of the shrader valve and an fiitings and stainless line to the electric sender. It does the same thing only at different pressures. Now at start up it will read 15-14 and then go to 4 or 6, if I floor it it will almost go to zero and then bounce back up to 10 and stay there. I am so sick of bleeding the lines. I am about 300 into it and am wishing I just bought a fass and not worry about any of it. Any Ideas

That's why you bought the fuel pressure gauge, to let you know when it's time to replace the lift pump.

It's time.

My last pump would drop from 15 psi to 8 psi at idle, but as soon as the rpm got over 1000, the pressure would jump back up to 15 psi.
That pump now resides in the bottom drawer of the tool box as a "JICSH" replacement.

Might want to throw a needle valve somewhere in the mix and see what your readings are.

I have 1/8 inch line which is really small so the readings are not fast and irratic. I guess the pump.......... Should I just by a fass or maybe just the pump to the fass? Or should I make my own? I saw all the fittings from scotties big fuel kit at a local store here in Indy (racecar capital ya know). I have to get paid again before I can even think about it. Thanks for chiming in
