Not shifting correctly until I let the gas off

The last few weeks my truck has not been shifting correctly. At about 35mph it should shift again but it doesnt I can wind the RPM into the redline if I wanted too, but if I let go of the accelerator and coast a minute then accelerate again it will shift correctly 9 times out of 10.

Additionally it seems to mostly (not always) go away after the truck has warmed up a bit. Checked the tranny fluid, it's topped off, nice red color and no smell of burn.

Any ideas?

I'm not an expert in trannys, but it sounds like you need to get it to a shop. How many miles are on it? Maybe its time for an upgrade if you push it alot.

First thing I would do is to monitor the gov psi sensor, but from your explanation it sounds alot like the front piston retainer seals.

Mine did that in 3rd gear, would not go in untill I lifted. It was a dirty solenoid I belive. My tranny man said he could clean it or replace it. We cleaned it and no more problems, that was about a year ago.

..

Only have 45k on it, never changed the tranny oil, filter or adjusted bands. I'll do those before I move to more expensive fixes I guess. Thanks guys.

45K and 5 years on factory fluid & original filter.....anythings possible. Still looks good, huh?Changing fluid & filter may solve your problem! Checked fluid level in neutral...right? The fact that is goes away when warmed up and fluid expands usually indicates low fluid level.
