Not another one
No, this isn't about a lift pump.

I replaced my T-stat last winter when it was sticking open with a 180* unit from Cummins. While driving to work this evening I noticed it is stuck open again. >

Has anyone else been having problems with the T-stat?

It's not that big of a deal to replace it's just anoying. :

Thanks
Darrell

On top of the head on the left side follow the radiator hose up from the radiator it's under that elbow sits right on top of the head.

You will know if it's bad, the truck will either run too hot, that meens it's stuck closed or the truck will run too cold ( as mine is doing ) and that meens it's stuck open.

The Termastat is only $20 but it really shouldn't go bad in a year.

Darrell

I had a '88 Toyota pickup that I had to replace the thermostat every fall.
After the first two replacements, I just knew I had to change it every fall.
I would take the old one out, stick it in a pan of water on the stove, just to make sure it was bad, and it was.

Didn't matter if it was a Toyota part, or aftermarket.

It became a normal part of winterizing the truck.

Maybe it was something in the water.

phox

Re:Not another one
You might be right but the Cummins T-stat sure looks a lot beefier than the Dodge T-stat. :

The Dodge T-stat had one of the ears that holds the spring retainer in brake. The metal peace was broke right in half.

The Cummins T-stat is built a little heavier so I think the problem is solved for now.

Darrell
