WOW I was just going to ask about this too, as mine did it yesterday morning. I turned the truck off, restarted it, reved the engine to about 2000rpm for less than a second, and all was okay. I had the same issue a couple of times last winter too, and the quick stab of the pedal has cured it every time. It has only done this on colder days though, so I was assuming cold fluid as the culprit.

Flush your power steering with fresh PS fluid. ( I prefer synthetic)
You can do this with a turkey baster. - Suck all the fluid from the reservoir, refill with fresh PS, start engine and turn steering wheel. You will see when the old stuff comes back through the return line, stop engine, suck etc.

I lost all my oil a few weeks ago too, except I lost the oil while driving on the freeway at 75 MPH. I to the off ramp with no brakes or steering. I got mine to a shop and they replace the pump dues to a massive leak and the brake booster, that had a bad accumulator.
