New Lift pump install

I Just got my '99 4x4 a couple months ago and its bone stock except for a K&N.

I put a Isspro fuel pressure gauge kit on and only have 6psi at idle, so tomarrow im going down to Cummins to get a lift pump for it.

Have any of you guys modified your banjo bolts by drilling them out alittle and chamfering them?
I think ill ask cummins if they have any with bigger holes.

Any other tips for me on lift pump replacement?

Questions:

1a. I bled some glycol and refilled my isolator and bled again , still have alittle air in the cab side line but heard this is ok and helps the gauge needle from vibrating. Is alittle air in the glycol line ok?

1. Whats this "max flow" set up ive read about and where to see/buy/make it?

2. The Holley blue pump ive read about , where to get it and is there a problem with to much fuel pressure to the VP44 with 2 electric pumps?

Im going to see if they have any stantadyne lube additive while im there otherwise I bought some Marvel Mystry oil to run in my fuel to lube my vp44

You could drill the banjo holes, but the line size is still restrictive. I highly recomend the max flow kit from Wildcat. Wildcat is a vendor on this board, just click on links button at top of page. The Holley blue pump is available at O'Rielly and Advance Auto, and it comes w/a regulator so you can use 2 pumps if you wish, and keep max pressure to VP44 around 20 psi. I don't know about the Marvel oil, but I always use a fuel additive(Power Service or Lucas).

I saw the holley blue at Summit raceing Its $105 I think.

Do you use the holley pump in place of the stock pump?

' Is it a better pump than the stock pump? and can you replace the wear parts in it?

Whats the best price on it?

I mounted my Blue in the stock location with a Max Flow kit (Wildcat Diesel.) It only lasted four months before the pressure was down to 5 psi so I moved it back on the frame rail to be used as a priming pump for filter changes, I'm running a RASP now. For all I care, the Holley can sit back there and rust...don't need it/don't want it feeding my engine

Hows that Rasp? It looks pretty simple?

Does it mount on the drivers side front of the motor?

The concept is simple...belt driven pump powered off the harmonic balancer. It runs in parallel with the stock electric pump or pump of our choice. However, the electric pump is wired to a pressure switch (Hobbs switch) so only runs if the pressure was to drop below 8psi, ie.... if the belt broke on the RASP, and the pressure dropped to 8psi the hobbs would energize your LP to pick up the pumping duties until you get around to putting on a new belt. There is also a switch to overide the hobbs for the purpose of priming after a filter change.

The thing I like about it is the more RPM you have the more volume you get. Ever notice when you lay the hammer down and you watch your FP drop the longer you stay in it, not with the RASP....a slight drop in pressure and then it comes back up and is rock steady.

A plumbing kit has just been released from Power By Poole and will be built for your specfic truck (LB/SB/QC..etc, etc) and your current fuel system configuration (stock location, on the rail, etc)

IMHO it's well worth the piece of mind.
