Ok, just a little more info on the truck itself. I purchased the truck used, last saturday, from a lot in TN (just outside of Knoxville), also purchased a warranty thru the bank where I financed part of the funds. I live in Indy, so it is not terribly feasible to take back to place of purchase. Would it be sufficient to take it to a Dodge dealer here in Indy? Should I consider taking it to a Cummins shop for service? Also, if this does turn out to be the lp and/or ip, since Chrysler is obviously aware of the problem, (hence the bulletin dated May 2000) shouldnt they be the ones to foot the repair bill?

Is there anything else I could be missing, as far as causes for the dead pedal?

My plan is to install some gauges, but as I said, I've only had the truck 4 days...

Thanks again for all the help, this forum has been a great help already!

Warranty specifies "a franchised automobile dealer or repair facility that provides a written parts and labor guarantee for covered repairs of not less than 6 months and 6k miles".

Sounds like any dealer or chain type repair shop can do the repairs. I would interview the local dodge dealers and Cummins repair shops and pick the best mechanic.

Not what they told me. If you don't pay a deductable you just have the rest of the 5 year 100k warranty left. say your pump goes out at 999999 mile and they replace it at no cost to you, then your warranty is 1 mile or 5th gear which ever comes first ( Dad tried to pay them some on his and they wouldn't take his money

Dead Pedal Fix

Take a look at doing the APPS reset to address the 'dead pedal' issue. Cummins calls it APPS (accelerator pedal position sensor), Dodge calls it TPS (throttle position sensor).

If your problem is this, the service engine light will come on and the code will be P0121. If you get this code, follow the procedure here:

APPS Reset Procedure

Is this worth trying just to see if there is a mileage improvement?

If the warranty gives you an option of where you can get it fixed, I would go to a Cummins shop or nearest reliable Diesel shop. Do not put the Dodge Intank pump in your truck. The pump is not strong enough by itself and if you add a pusher to the setup, it has to work harder to get fuel from the intank pump. I have been there and done that.
