Need help gauges wont work

I have a 98 24v quad cab dually, and I am having problems with the gauges on the dash. When I start the truck up the fuel gauge will work for a second, along with the tach, and volts. But the oil gauge never works. I know it has oil pressure, because I have driven it. After the truck runs for a second and I put it in gear to take off all the gauges quit, along with the mileage reader. Its a 5 speed truck. Can anyone help me???? Thanks Shaun

Sound like a simple loose connection to the cluster.

I pulled the cluster and made sure the connection was good and it was.

Where is my manners...

WELCOME TO THE SITE....

As for the cluster you might have to dig behind the cluster and maybe push the socket together tighter. Double check you ground wiring in the cab. Make sure there is no broken wires or corroded connections... If the socket is a bit oxidized you can use a pencil erase to shine up the contacts abit... Old computer trick for troublesome cards. It's a loose connection somewhere...

Simular thing happen to me... I had the ABS / BRAKE lights flicker on and off... I found that it was a main harness connection under the hood that was corroded in the socket abit. Cleaned it and connected again and the problem was gone...

Also had the WIF light come on... It was cause by water in the wiring. Connector at the filter housing.

It might be under the dash and it could be out under the hood... Look around...

Well I got it running last night, and drove it 20 miles. When you first start the truck up all of them work except the oil pressure. I forgot to mention that the truck set without windows in it for about 4 months because the were knocked out in a crash. There is no telling where my problem is. I heard that all the gauge power is also ran through the radio?

Check your conections behind the cluster. Yeah you never know what could have made itself at home in your truck while the windows were out. I have seen rats make a mess of a wiring harness! Welcome and good luck!
