Is my lift pump dead again??
My truck died this morning. So I checked and the lift pump was silent. (exactly one year ago this happenned in the same manner.). So I just changed the lift pump and the new one is silent. I just undid my batteries for a reset, but realized I should have checked for voltage at my lift pump plug...but I didn't think of that and right now I am waiting the 30 minutes for the computer to reset. It did need a reset...
If there is no power to the lift pump,..Can I put a hardwired switch in there? If I do, do I also have to somehow hardwire the VP44? Let me know if you have any idea what the deal might be with my truck.

When I reset my computer the problem was fixed. In case anybody else runs into this. I'd really like to bypass the computer and just put and on off switch on the lift pump,. But at my age the energy is lacking.

I have an aftermarket FASS style lift pump on my '99.
It is hardwired, so I have to turn it on before I start my truck and turn it off when I am done driving it.
I have a fuel pressure gauge and idiot light so I can tell it s working and the pressure it is putting out.
I am the only one who drives it, so I don't have to worry about other drivers forgetting to turn on the LP.
The LPs on the 24V really seem to be an issue. The Air Dog on my old '01 seemed to last a year at most before the pump would die.

All I had to do was re-set my computer. I had already known it needed to be re-set because it was shifting funny/hunting for gears... But I had NO IDEA , that the trucks computer would keep my lift pump from pumping. So,..I learned something new today.
