MPG - Not Modified: UNBOMBED!

Gentlemen,
For all of us that have not modified our trucks... [undecided] What kind of milage are you getting with a load and without a load. I get about 18mpg without towing in rushour traffic ;D and 10mpg towing a 6200lb dry weight camper. Thanks. 8)

Re:MPG - Not Modified: UNBOMBED!

Jones,
I just returned last week from a trip pulling my 24 foot camper with an 18 foot boat behind it and I averaged about 11 or 12 Mpg. It was 111 degrees the day I pulled it out there with about a 20 mph sidewind and I was running right at 60 on the interstate. Coming home it was 100 degrees with a 20 mph sidewind and I was running about 55 on the interstate. Got about 11 going out and about 12 coming back. GVW with everything hooked up is about 19,000 lbs including the truck.
Running empty to work and back mostly interstate and bumper to bumper traffic in KC I get about 17.5 running right at 70. If I crank it up over about 73 I start going down in a hurry. Running 75 to 78 in the interstate reduces my mileage to about 14-15 mpg

Hope that helps

Keith

I get about 16 city driving empty, about 14 loaded. And on the highway I get right at 20 empty, about 18.5 loaded (10k car trailer). I love that 6 shooter. 8)
-D

Re:MPG - Not Modified: UNBOMBED!

I get about 16.5 empty, essentially city driving, maybe more if I'm gentle. Last winter on a road trip to PA, I got between 18 and 20, depending on whether I was in Ohio or not. ;D My brother got 15.3 with my truck pulling a Lumina on a U-Haul car hauler, maybe 4500 lbs total. He got 15.2 with the trailer only. ??? I'm trying to figure out how fast he was going...

Loaded trailer (7500-8Klbs) and jeep high above the cab I get 12 mpg and change.

Around town empty 18 mpg

Mostly interestate - 20+ mpg

Interestingly, the mpg continues to improve with age. Its got 30K miles on it now. I have watched mpg improve by about 3.5mpg since it was in the teens. No engine bombs yet... >, but I am working on that. I do rum AMSOIL through out and use Amsoil or Howe's lube in the tank.

Well I didn't know if you were talking about the bombed trucks or the "BOMBED" MPG Figures

Re:MPG - Not Modified: UNBOMBED!

I have had 2 12V 5 speeds and 2 24V autos and NEVER averaged over 17 MPG on any of them! All were 4X4's but still never saw 20mpg out of any single one of them. That was doing the math and I do the math at every fill up.

Of note: I don't drive like grandpa but at some point and time it would seem on a long trip when the truck never left the interstate except to get fuel I would have seen some of this phenomenal milage.

Re:MPG - Not Modified: UNBOMBED!

Well, other than his limited slip and my big tires, I have the twin brother (sister?) of Jones's truck.

Currently getting 16 mpg daily driving.
Have seen a max of 17.4mpg.
(corrected speedometer/odometer with Superlift Truespeed)

Never towed.

Winter fuel I maxed at 14.5 mpg daily driving.
