Mojave Green Torque Converters

In my quest for a torque converter I found yet another company. Mojave Green torque converters, anyone heard of them. Here is the LINK

From what I've read this converter seems to have everything that makes up a good after-market converter. The site lists the converter for $739.00, but when I called the guy said he is selling them for $639.00 plus $100 core charge.

Any opinions?

Not familiar with that brand, but, if your trying to solve higher HP trans problems with JUST a TC replacement, I feel you are wasting your money.
Anyone who would sell you just a TC (or for that matter just a TC and a Valve Body), without advising you against it, either doesn't know any better or is just interested in getting your money.

Others have tried it with poor success.

Just my opinion - Good Luck!

I guess it depends on what is concidered high HP. I'm looking at doing a TC and shift kit. I'm just trying to improve the stock tranny, nothing more. I think in most cases, a ATS or DTT tranny is over kill for the average diesel truck owner like myself. That's just my opinion.... But then again, what does the average diesel truck owner know anyway? I'm here to learn.

Thanks for your reply rjohnson. If I had your setup, I would look harder at the full DTT or ATS transmission.

On a tranny as old as yours, you most likely have other failing parts.
Seals, valves, etc that won't be able to withstand the extra pressures of a VB.
If you only get a TC, then the stock VB won't be able to provide enough pressure to lock it up, so it will end up destroying itself.

Nothing wrong with staying close to stock, especially when the alternative is very expensive. I believe, from what I learned when I was first looking, that trying to strenghten your stock tranny with stronger parts will not work the way you might think. While logical, it is not that simple. You would be better off rebuilding you tranny as stock with new parts.
If you have not already, check out the forum article at

on why NOT to just do a Valve Body and a Converter. It was a real eye opener for me.

Phox beat me to it on some of the details; It's all about balancing fluid pressures throughtout the tranny. From all I have read & heard, I thought there might be a better way to accomplish what I think you are trying to do.
Again, Good Luck
