MAP sensor cleaning
 

How do I clean the MAP sensor? I already did the IAT sensor.

Anybody? Or should I get a new one? Milage is down to 11.5 mpg in town. New lift pump going on Wednesday night. Pressure is down to 7 psi at idle.

Electrical parts cleaner. The hardest part is getting a socket that will fit. The replacement at the Dodge place here said over a hundred for a new one. The cummins store said 50 or so. Not sure if I answered your question or not. I will be on line all night if you need me to clarify anything I said.<br>Scooter

Thanks Scooter. Think I will install new lift pump first to see if that is my mpg culprit. If not, I will clean the MAP sensor. If that doesn't do it, I will get a new one.

I found this web page to be very helpful http://dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/trouble...4v_trouble.htm<br><br>as well as some topics in Turbo Diesel Register http://www.turbodieselregister.com.<br><br>This site is the BEST though (hi board moderator).<br><br>They say these lift pumps are a real problem with the 24v engines. I wonder if the folks constantly changing these pumps don't have the fuel vent cap still stuck on the top of the tank from the factory. I'm no mechanic but I'd venture to say this would would cause a heckofalot of pressure possibly killing these pumps?? I haven't had a chance to check this with mine yet. I do get a pretty descent amount of pressure when I open my fuel cap to fill up. ???

ok this is probally stupid but i cant find any pics of the map sensor and someone give me a clue to where it is located at? i would like to clean it all so to c if it helps out on milage. thanks!

Its on the drivers side near the rear of the head.<br>Its a black sensor that is connected to the wire harness by a triangular small 3 prong connection.<br><br>The socket used for removal is a 32mm deep well.<br><br>--Justin

Mine went out at 15000 miles. Easy to replace.
