MAP Senosr Electrical Connector Removal ?
 

H guys,

I am wanting to check and clean the MAP and IAT sensors and cannot for the life of me, figure out how to get the electrical connector off without buggering it up [verymad][verymad][verymad] - wasted a couple of hours this morning grrrrrrrr!

I am obviously missing something simple but at 69 I am slowing down a bit. It shouldn't be that hard to figure out so could someone give me some help and give me simple, step by step instructions so I don't make a SNAFU.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On mine there is a black u shaped tab that you pull up on as you pull plug from sensor. You don't pull up very much just a little bit.

The clips are very similar to the other connectors on your truck. Check out one that is easy to see and get to, like the water temp sensor and check it out, like mentioned, it is just a small catch tab that needs very little prying to get off.

The silicone compression ring that keeps dirt and moisture out can make it a little sticky too.

Some of these connectors also have a red safety lock on them that needs to be slid out about 1/8 inch before you can move the primary catch.

I grasp mine and push the side of the clip up with my thumb as I pull directly to the right and it pops right off...

Yes, it was the red locking clip that had me stumped - not seen that type before.
Now I have to go and and buy some deep sockets - what I have (impact sockets) won't work as there is a shoulder about 1" down inside the socket. I need the straight deep sockets - oh well, still much cheaper than getting the "***********" working on my truck.

Good news, I could not get the fuel sender plug off mine and buggered it up but it stays put!

You may see a slight mpg improvement after cleaning the IAT and MAP sensors....

Yeah, those fuel sender connectors are always brutal after a few years of mud and dirt. [verymad]
