looking for a cheap way to raise boost pressure

i have a 99 24v with XZT+ and i am looking for a cheap way to raise boost and not hurt my turbo or engine

Pinch the wastegate hose off, or get a adjustable boost elbow
Both are cheap ways to increase

adj. boost elbow

Any details on an adj. boost elbow ? I want more boost too !

An adjustable boost elbow threads into the Turbo housing. Where the wastegate hose comes out of the turbo, there is a little brass fitting. The boost elbow replaces that, and has an allen screw that you can turn in or out to allow more or less air to travel through the wastegate hose.

I am confused. Why do you say standard tranny boost elbow, auto j-hook?

daveg 12-17-2007 01:16 AM

boost elbow

I see the boost elbow won't work on the turbos that come on 2000's w/automatics. What about a '99 w/auto ?

You use the boost elbow on a standard tranny truck, but the autos (I think only the 00+ with the HY turbos) use a j-hook.

Oh ok, I thought you were saying all automatics use J-hooks,lol

daveg,

the boost elbow should work on a 99 automatic because we have the HX35 Turbo, not the HY.

the elbows work ok. but the pressure seems to equal out. if you do not have the hardline to the wastegate (hy35) use a real boost controller. I like turbosmart controllers, they are also gated and help to lower spool time

If you don't have a boost fooler, and exceed 20 psi or so it will set a code.
boost fooler is electronic and keeps the computer from seeing the max boost.
Most boxes have then, but it can be bought alone.
also you will need more fuel to really need it.

Nah, it's just that since I'm properly valved I sometimes forget what year they started the HY:D

Check out Jobe performance. They have a dial a boost system that works real good. You can run a pre-set boost or with the flip of a switch run the max. I get 42psi out of my stock 2002 turbo
