2002 HO, 137K with 1vp and 3 Lp's, + the current one is getting flaky on occasion, waiting on a airtex pump to be released with barbed fittings..., also had the front end rebuilt at ~80K under warrenty, but the cost woulda been around $2,100 (started with a bad bearing.. went down hill from there, couldnt get anything apart and broke parts trying). All in all love the truck, will be hard to replace it with a new one, all the other junk added on now is more expensive to repair than the VP weak link.

2002 with 114k on it. Original owner had a VP44 failure and replaced it, along with having the in-tank lift pump installed. I bought it with just under 109k and it hasn't given me any issues. Love my truck and I won't give it up.

Only 40k, use to pull RV and Utiliy trailer only. 1 LP.
Have added gauges and Vulcan kit. Bought an extra camapign pump when they were on sale, it sits under the seat, just in case.
Have gone through one AC evapotor, covered by extended warranty.
I replaced the LP myself, when the Vulcan went in. I did not want the in tank pump, even free.
I love this truck too!!

Just a plain ole guy
"whoa!! 700K is a lot of miles! original motor with well maintainance seems to have potential for longevity...any info on the VP....or was it the same VP for all those miles?"
No vp issues. As I said, all those miles and just a water pump. This aint no foolin around. He runs a plumbing company hee in town. pulls a backhoe at least 4 days a week, sometimes 7.

Love the GEN II
01 6speed HO with 4.10 gears, 180,000 no pump, tows 10,000#+ daily, 50,000 plus miles on dirt, ball joints once, unit berrings as well, two sets of steering gear, one rear drive line, 8 trac bars, 3 power steering pumps, one clutch, 4 sets of shocks, 2 sets of wheels, 2 batteries and 5 sets of tires. Change fuel filter with oil pretty much every time, have run Lucas stabilizer since 120,000, Run up for 5-15 mins as well as run down 5-15 min RELIGIUOSLY. Has been chipped with EDGE EZ since 60,000 at 80,000 went to straight pipe and 35" tires, have kept stock air cleaner. I have 6 trucks that are 05 or newer and my employees still like this one best HANDS DOWN. It will out tow everything else we have and do it under the worst imagineable conditions.

246,000 miles, I changed the VP44 out at 154,000 miles before it had a chance to die and before I started adding bombs. And I put an Airdog on it over 100,000 miles ago and haven't looked back since.

Sunir:
Yeah, your right, the 98.5-02' Dodge CTD 24 valves seem to be either a "Love Em or Hate Em" Choice! BTW,....one thing I forgot to tell the Members in my post was my 2002 also left me on the side of the road BROKE DOWN three times!! And, at the time I sold it, the second VP-44 (which was only about four months old) had the dreaded P-0216 code and was subsequently replaced under warranty by the new owner, so technically, that truck had THREE (3) VP-44's in 94,000 miles!! WOW!!

bought truck at 29000 miles. put walbro on at 103k or around it, and changed the vp at about 112k. changed right front wheel bearing assembly right before the walbro install. also have changed out front drive shaft ujoint, and in process of changing the rear end of that drive shaft's u joints. other than that ive been blessed.
