Lifts
 
I just got a 2001 3/4 ton and i am looking to lift it. I think i am going to go with a 6 inch lift. I have been looking around and i think i have settled with either a fabtech or a tough country. To me the tough county looks pretty good. it come with 3 inch block and add a leaf for the rear. i am just wonder it anyone has had any problems with either of these lifts or knows something i do not know any help is good

Personally, I'd stay away from any more blocks in the rear. You already have 1 block back there and lift companies want to "stack" your factory block with their new lift block. That's never the best idea. The amount of leverage your axle will have on the springs would just be absurd, can anyone say "mega-spring wrap"? If you're dead set on lifting it, then spend the extra money and buy new rear springs with the lift. You'll be happy you did.

I would stay away from tough country yea they are cheap but you get what you pay for.They use weak material and if you go springs they sag within a year.I would go with a superlift,skyjacker or bds. BDS has a lifetime warrenty on there parts everyone else has a limited warranty.

well this lift replaces the block i have now with a biger one and then i add a spacer leaf on top of that to give it the 6 inches. There is no stacking blocks. and i am also going to ladder bar it for towing

Fab tec has a 6 inch kit that i can get a hold of for $1200 at us diesel parts here in town. that was my other option that i was going with. But with the fab tec there is stacking block in that one. I will for sure 4 link that.

I have been researching this ALOT [coffee] since I've been wanting to lift my truck. Depends if you'll be doing any offroading. Beween Tough Country and Fabtech I'd definatly get Fabtech, way better product. BDS is comparable to Fabtech but BDS has the longer lower arms for better articulation, and a good warranty but about $500 more (personally I think BDS is a better product). But you can also upgrade to the longer lower link arms on the fabtech kit (more $ of course). I'm going to piece mine together from a few different companies to get the best lift I can the first time around instead of having to upgrade later and spent more money. For street and mild offroading use, go for the Fabtech short long arm kit best bang for your buck. Check out Thuren Fab (crossover steering, link arms, and track bar), Extreme Suspension and Performance (Long Arm Kit), Solid Steel Biz (steering stabilizer), Skyjacker (extreme drop pitman arm). Thats my wishlist so far for trail riding. If you want to fast over bumps, that a whole other story [laugh]. Good Luck.

Personally I would go with the 4.5" Skyjacker. I have it and love it. And as far as axle wrap goes, with your STOCK lift block and a replacement pack(what I have), it will axle wrap like CRAZY!!!! I kept killing my carrier bearing on my truck every other month until I put on my traction bars. I don't know what your going for as far as the purpose of the lift, but with the 4.5" I could wheel it pretty hard on 36's and never had a problem of rubbing. You could probably run 37's just on the street if you weren't gonna wheel it that hard. And if your DEAD SET on going with a 6 inch lift, just step up and get the 7" Long arm kit from skyjacker. NASTY FLEX[guitar] and rides smooth as butter on the highway. My buddy had this kit on his 97. I'm looking at stepping up to long arms this summer.
