One more thing, the adjustable pressure regulator is a T-Jet-AA110-1/4-50, the one I tested and am using (its still on the truck) is a preset PSI regulator from Glacier, (available at www.soilidsteel.biz), he sells the whole kit with absolutly everything needed to install from 98.5 to the present models. For those of you with limited knowledge of the fuel system I would recomend the the Walbro pump kit with the preset regulator, its foolproof and you wont make any mistakes of turning the PSI up to high as you could with an adjustable regulator, but of course, to each his own, as the saying goes. Im actually well over 15000 miles now on the Walbro and its steady as a rock, I actually bought my Walbro off of Ebay and my Tjet regulator from a field sprayer supply company and the hose and fittings from wherever and built it myself,no problems and since then a Company in Spokane (Glacier) has developed the kit with the preset PSI, and is available thru solidsteel.biz ,

Not afiliated with any of the above companys.

My Freightliner FL70 came with the LP located on the block just as on Rams. After replacing two LPs, decided to locate LP by the tank, having read on this forum (and others) about these pumps being designed to push rather than pull, prefiltering being important for long LP life, etc. Sounded great in theory, and I am sure these arguments have merit, but relocation and prefiltering did nothing to improve the life of the LP. I have come to the conclusion that the OE Carters are junk and nothing can be done to make them reliable. I was going to switch to Walbro when Cummins came out with the Campaign pump and I thought, well why not try it, they are cheap enough. I have had the Campaign pump on for five months now and so far it has performed flawlessly. I bought a spare and have not had to use it so far. Time will tell if the Campaign pumps are durable, If not, I will try the Walbro 392

Well off the top of my head I can't tell you the exact number of miles, but at least 1 1/2 sets of tires at 30lbs of fp. I have one of vulcans first kits, as well as the stock pump. the vulcan fittings are huge campared to the stock weenie banjo's.

regulators scare the heck out of me, the last thing I want is a hunk of diaphram stuck in one of my fittings.....no thanks. as for big fuel lines not having merit....way to think outside the box....I dissagree but to each his own.

since running 2 pumps with the vulcan kit, I keep the guage pinned at 30 psi...always, for all I know it could make 100lbs, my guage only goes to 30 and with no leaks, no hard starts, and no dead lp/ip's I plan on keeping it that way.

Just a quick note. Our regulators have no rubber inside to worry about and can be adjusted by changing shims and/or springs.

Thumbs up

In Sept.'04, my stock pump in the stock location showed <7psi WOT so I removed it from the truck and installed a Carter 6401hp down on the frame rail in front of the fuel tank. Drilled & tapped the mounting holes then used Red thread locker to hold the bracket bolts in place. I made up power wiring and soldered to the stock wiring. I cut the stock fuel line at the frame and connected rubber line to the suction side of the new pump. The pump came with 3/8" straight fuel fittings. I removed the largest banjo from the old lift pump and installed it on the fuel filter suction port and connected 3/8" fuel line from the lift pump to the fuel filter. After bumping the starter and bleeding air off at the Schrader Valve on the VP, the fuel pressure got good and I started the engine. It did stumble a coupla seconds but smoothed out.
I got 15psi idle pressure and I believe 11psi WOT before I connected the Comp pump wire...but that's another story.
I think the Vulcan Relocate kit has a wiring extension in the kit.
If you raise the front end of the truck, don't forget your jackstands.
