Key on - dash lights flicker - no start...

Truck is an '01QC with 24v and 6spd. Has Power Puck since '05. No other accessories. 260k miles.

All loaded to go to the track. Truck is cold. Drove it a week ago with no issues.

Turned the key to ON and wait for the Wait to Start light to go out. The dash lights flicker on and off intermittently every second or so. I can hear a small relay or solenoid clicking up near the fuse box (it's not the starter - I haven't tried to start it yet.) Turned key to start and got nothing, not a whimper from the starter solenoid. Turned the key off. Waited a couple of minutes. Turned key on. Dash lights come on per normal. Truck starts right up like nothing happened. Drove it 30 minutes - no issues. Amp meter is normal.

Weak battery maybe (they're both old.) Acts like a bad ground.

Ideas? Suggestions?

Thanks,

Steve

I have been experiencing a similar problem, and narrowed it down to battery terminal corrosion. When I clean the connections, everything works.

dodges love clean battery posts, if there's corrosion on the posts she'll get bitchy. one year i was cleaning posts every 3 months, i started greasing the posts to keep the water out.
