just removed silencer, ring got a ?
Hi I took off my AFE filter and rubber intake pipe, to find my trans leak, to no avail. but noticed how easy it was to remove the silencer ring. which i did, it sounds pretty cool, although not as loud as i expected, my question is is there any gain power-wise t this, I thought that there wasn't but the truck seems a little peppier, just curious,
another thing? would there be any gain if i just mounted the air filter onto the turbo, and eliminated the ruber intake pipe? |
From what i've heard there is no power gain from removing the silencer ring. I removed mine, and i love it. The "peppier" is all mental. It sounds better so you think its running better.

Hey man, Chrome adds at least 10 HP per piece (thats why there's so much on my truck), and the silencer ring must add some too, unfortunately its all in your head, but it sure does sound cool, i agree. Also, with your current mods, the K&N will fow plenty for your needs right now. The only gain putting your filter straight on the turbo would be louder whistle, and in my opinion, more chance of getting water or something into your turbo if you do any kind of off-roading or anything of that sort. Also doesn't the K&N have a heat shield of some sort? Putting the filter right beside the hot exhaust would most likely pull lots of hot air.

yeah I am in the process of chroming the whole bed for extreme h.P. gains
my K&n is actually an AFE but I couldn't remember at the time I filled out the sig. and yes it has a shield around it, I would have had to make a new one for it if there were any gains doesn't hurt to ask, thanks for the chrome suggestions |
Stickers are worth 3/4 hp each. Unless they are really big then they are worth5hp each.
