Keeps getting better. LOL

This morning I removed the lines, VP44, ECM, and engine harness. The VP44 keyway was rounded off flush with the tapered shaft. Obviously whoever installed the pump didnt line the keyway up and it was spinning inside the gear.

VP44 is getting replaced, ECM recalibrated, new engine harness, and new injection lines and clamps.

But Monty, why didn't it have any power

Jeez, he will spend a fortune just in injector line clamps, I bought a couple.

Nice work- it should be interesting and enlightening to follow the traces of this genius through the rest of the vehicle.
I think that this guy should be sponsored by an emploment program- he keeps technicians employed

See that is why you pay a tech like Monty a couple hundred to check a vehicle over before you swing the cash to their hands. Then you save $$ with a used one and less (if any) worries.

You gotta like the nice paper device to keep that one line from wearing a hole in itself. Although that may have helped......lol

Now everyone has the job they hate on the trucks. Mine is the darn injector lines. I stretched a 8 x 10 $6.00 tarp over the top of the gantry in the back yard, 15 foot high, and was doing the head on mine. The wind was blowing, two inches of wet slush/snow on the truck and tarp. The tarp did a nice job of holding the slush in place so that it could run off and drain down my back. The windshield and cowl was covered with the stuff. Putting on the injector lines, all I could think was, hey he had a good idea, now where are those couplers and a hack saw.... And a wad of paper towels might keep that from rubbing there... Then I got to thinking, what if one of those DTR guys, saw this thing, naw better do it right... At 2:00 AM came in to warm up and put some dry clothes on, looked at my mail, fell asleep with the mouse in my hand. Got back out there at 8:00 AM, great weather now, less wind, light drizzle, no more snow, fired it up, got the hood back on. Oh yeah, rear is singing, quick pull the cover, stuff in new 140, hooked up, on the road by noon. Ran all night, home by noon, sleep til now. (gettin old about 17 hours) Customer calls this morning, "I'm a little disappointed lately, you don't push like you used to." Now if I could find a horse that could run 70..... But once more, the truck runs, I kept the customers, will run all night tonight. Self employment, my own business, ain't it great.... Now to get caught up with IFTA, where's that list of miles...
