Ip Lp Vp44 Dead
Got the dreaded p0216 code after loss of power. Lost both pumps @ 66k... must have been the lift pump then injector pump..no one really knows/admits the number of failures on these pumps. The "factory" mod for relocation of the lift pump into the tank is only for 2003 and up.. All I can say is thanks for all the great info from the guys/gals on this site with their know-how and info you pass along. I'm a lurker on this site but thought I should say thanks for everyone's post on stuff like this.. I wouldn't have known this thing was out without this site. BTW everyone in the DFW area should go to Bonham Dodge .. best prices best help. in and out with no questions and got the truck out early with no hassle.....
Thanks Brad.. newbie poster |

BRJ, get some guages on that truck after they replace your pumps. Better for you they are still under warranty, it gets expensive when it is on your dime.

you read my mind !! seems like money well spent

There is an updated part number coming in the fall for the 98.5 to 02's . It will include a new fuel tank and intank pump....shhh....mom's the word.
ps. I found this out from my DSM. |
Without a fuel pressure gauage you are simply driving blind. The IP will suck enough fuel to run fine, but it needs "excess" fuel to cool and lubricate the IP pump. Without a guage you could have lost the LP at 30K miles and never know it until the IP heads south.
