how long do front wheel bearings last

My 2001 4 wheel drive just had a front wheel bearing go bad, how long do they usually last, I have nearly 270,000 miles on the truck.

The only real answer to your question is, the whole time...
Mine went bad early on, I've seen others never give any hassles. I put a tablespoon of 75w90 synthetic gear oil in when i install new unit bearings, and i haven't had one fail yet.

I did a preventative strike at 170K and they were still like new.............. Pind hit the nail on the head.

I did the same on my Jeep, it's just not a part to change on the side of the road, thus my question her, I need to change my left bearing for 2 reasons, first the right just got changed, second, the left has got 270,000 miles on it

I agree, no reason to just change one.............
