High idle at stop?

High idle at stop?
On my way home tonight truck ran fine. I get off the freeway and stop at the light to find the truck running at about 900RPM at a stop, but under a good load. Trans temp and egt started to rise. Popped it into neutral but the RPM's stayed high. When I popped it back into drive the truck died. I limped it home and then to the dealer today.
Dealer tells me the Torque Converter is not working, quotes me $2500. The transmission is about 4 years old and has 30000 miles on it, ***? I am gna park the truck because I dont have the cash right now.
Any ideas?
