head gasket blown.......
 

ok im getting twins put on next week and i have been told by more then one person that the head gasket will most likely blow once or twice tell the engine accepts the twins........my question is what to look for when the head gasket is blown and what kind of things will be different when the head gasket goes out?.......

A larger oil puddle than normal.

If you are gonna put twins on it I would highly encourage you stud and O-ring the block beforehand. I know I would, too much chance of damaging something expensive if you don't. I don't understand what "till the engine accepts the twins", the stock gasket is good for around 40 psi. As far as what to look for, overheating, and oil and water everywhere!!

Loss of Coolant...into the oil if it blows inward.
Drips under the head..down the block...if it blows out.
Or both.

twinns????= ARP studs, not bolts ,you just entered a whole diff. world....land of handfulls of 100.00 dollar bills will only satisfy...........

wow i did a look into studs.......holy cow there up there in price..........man i only paid 2,500 for the twin kit.....

The cost of twins is greater than just the kit. As mentioned above you should O-ring the block or head (cost around $300), then you should use studs (cost $400) a new headgasket should be used when doing the O-ring I recommend using the 12v Marine gasket that is .0020 thicker and modifying it for a 24v (cost $175), if its not included in your twin setup you will need an ATS exhaust manifold (around $400). These items alone will set you back almost an additional $1300!

In looking at your sig unless the twins are pretty small you will want/need bigger injectors....... Twins are great and do make big power and lower egts but they are also expensive.

in some instances it will only pressurize your coolant system---you will notice a rapid rise in water temp and possibly you'll see coolant on the hood and the battery, etc around the radiator cap---all of this depends on what pressure it blows at---you can drive the truck, but you need to watch for water temp, cuz as time go by it takes less and less boost to pressurize and blow coolant---

well.....i have the ATS manifold and BD twins on there way............i went with twins because my stock turbo took a crap and i was building a max of 5psi before.......it was a upgrade which was needed........just just decided to go up in the world instead of staying stock....heck i have so many mods im surprized the tranny has stayed in one peace or the drive train all the way back.........
