gas mileage question

I cant seem to get any better than about 14.5 mpg, about two months ago i was getting 15 in town and then all of a sudden it dropped to about 14.2 and so far has stayed there most of the time and i cant seem to get it to come back up. even if i run down the highway for a considerable amount of time. i try to run lucas through the tank at least once a month and also have tried the 2-cycle oil and that worked for a little bit then started going back down again. everything is running great, no codes, no smoke,

whats the mileage that i should be getting does anyone know or does anyone have ideas to assist with my trouble?? any thoughts and help will be greatly appreciated

In town thats not bad mileage went down due to the winter fuel.

Maybe try puttin diesel in it I heard they don't like gas to much

A worn VP can cause low mpgs if it can no longer advance or is having problems advancing the timing . not saying thats your problem just Ideas

Standyne fuel additive has given me about 1mpg increase. But then offset the cost of it for that 1mpg improvement.

Fuel economy is directly related to the amount of pressure applied with the right foot. That along with winter fuel, operating conditions and load carried. Last time I checked I got empty 21.5 MPG (imperial) combined city/hiway. That's 18.5 MPG (US gallon) with 3.55 gears

another vote for winter fuel. Try replacing your fuel filter at normal intervals or monitor your fuel press. so you know when its due for a changing. I was getting 19.5 mpg all summer, now that we're using winter fuel Im getting 16.5-17.5 mpg. Oh well, still happy with that!

I say winter fuel as well. Ive noticed a 2-3 mpg drop in my last few tanks since its got cold here- lows in 20's, highs in 40-50* here.

Im getting between 16.6 and 17.8 ( hand calculated) with the truck in my signature, and I dont drive it very nice. I dont run any additives in the summer but I use Power Service when the temps dip down ( not running any yet) but im sure my mileage will drop soon when I fill up with winter fuel

I agree with the winter fuel causes worse fuel mileage. I put in lucas and Power Services silver container that boosts cetane. With both in the tank I notice a much quieter running engine and better fuel mileage. Plus I like the stuff because it will help everything last longer.....lubricating the vp.

Winter fuel. Check tire pressures and alignment. These can be mile eaters as well. A good fuel addititve liike Power Service helps a little as does the lightening of the right foot as prev. mentioned.

Kurt

PS Apparently we are calling it "Fuel" mileage around here now!
