Fuel pumps

I think my fuel is shot again luckily it happened in the driveway for the second time. Replaced by an OEM @4 yrs ago, was getting good pressure @12psi last Sat. Won't start today just turns over but won't fire same thing when it went out before. Hope not the VP44.

Getting ideas on the FASS DDRP or the Air Dog Raptor. Driveway job and not looking into the bigger fuel air separator at this time. Which one would be a better fit. 99 auto with an EZ used for pulling, trailor and off road truck @8-9000 lbs nothing crazy.

Thanks for the help

Hutch

I have the DDRP in my truck and have had no problems at all. It only takes about an hour to change and that includes walking back and forth to the tool box. The instructions say remove the starter and do it from the bottom. I did mine from the top with no problems at all. I pulled my TT 7000 miles this past summer and held 16-18 psi pulling and about 22-24 at idle. Ordered mine from Geno's and had it within 3 or 4 days

Good Luck

I would check the lift pump fuel pressure at the schrader valve just after bumping the starter when it will not fire. If it's 5psi or above the VP44 is more likely the problem imo.

Sounds like these guys have you pointed in the right direction. I like my Raptor lift pump. When it was time for me to order a performance lift pump I heard rumor that Fass was having some issues with their pumps. I was also told the Raptor is able to flow more fuel vs the Fass. So I decided to give it a shot, and am having good luck with it...

Finally fired up after letting it sit for 3 hrs. I went to start it with very weak batteries(4yrs old) and not sure if I flooded it when I jumped it a few times, wait to start light on, feeding more fuel each time, heard the pump working. New batteries in had @12-14 psi on my guage. I did hear about the FASS pumps and in another post they were shipped with weak springs and sent out replacements which solved the problem. My OEM replacement pump is 4 yrs old so will replace soon. Thanks for your opinions. Just noticed the FASS is @100.00 cheaper, but could not find the flow rates and the raptor is 100 on the flow. 150 for the airdog 100, but a 4 hr job.

Duralast gold prorated since 8 yr warranty so 2 new ones for 140.00 at autozone just an FYI.

I was once told the Fass was a 60-75 gph flow. Could be wrong though...

8 (eight) year warranty on duralast batteries??

That was me that posted about the weak springs in the DDRP, after I replaced it with the new one from Geno's I have had consistent 22 at idle and 18 WOT. 60-75 GPH is about right for the DDRP, I see no need for any more than that. At 60 MPH and 10 MPG you are using 6 gallons per hour to get from A to B. That leaves a minimum of 54 gallons circulating. NOW, The key thing is that they do not give you a pressure at which that GPH rating is given so you can assume free flow. But it is a gear type pump so it has to be moving the fuel somewhere and the only place to go is the bypass.
