Fuel Pressure Test Tool
I notice that there is a Schrader valve test port on the rear side of the fuel filter. I would assume that one could attach a fuel pressure tester there and measure the pressure in the fuel system. I was looking at fuel pressure test kits at the autoparts store (one brand was Actron). They sell for a about $40+. Then I noticed the instructions said "not for diesel systems".
Question is: Can't you use that shcrader valve port on the fuel filter to make a test? And why are some fuel pressure test guages not useable on diesel systems? |
you can be into a gauge set up for like 60 bucks.....

Yes you can use the schrader valve. There is one on the fuel filter and there’s on by the injector pump that might be easer to get to.

It will work fine. The one I have is technically labeld as "fuel injection pressure". They say it won't work if you are measuring diesel fuel injection pressure, which is much higher. You are just trying to measure your fuel pressure. Did that make sense? Or was I just rambling away?[duhhh]

Thanks for the tips. I've now found some on line on eplay for about $20.00. I wonder if they will work. They said they read from 0 to 100psi. I guess it should be good enough just to see if I've got some lift pump pressure.

You can get a generic 30 psi gauge from Surplus Center for like $2, or Autometer mechanical style for $7.
