Fuel Module Screen
Fuel Module Screen
Does anyone know where or if I can get the bottom puck screen for an in the tank fuel module? Mine is ripped and the lift pump sucks air on hard braking at a quarter tank.
My problem isn't with the lift pump or filtering or fuel pressure in general. My problem is that my fuel pick up module isn't baffled correctly now that the bottom puck screen has a rip in it. When my fuel level in the tank is at 3\4 emty the fuel gets sloshed away from the pick up hose under hard braking or fast excellerating or a steep nose down incline. I know that my fuel level is correct because I dropped the tank at 1/4 full last weekend to see what the deal was and sure enought I had plenty of green fuel and a tear in the puck screen which I knew was there. Fifty six dudes read this post and this is all I got. ***! I should have listened to my mother and bought a Yugo.
I'd check with some of the sellers/installers of the FASS or AirDog systems. I'd bet they deal with this more than most of us. try www.vulcanperformance.com been very helpful to me
I could not a find a replacement for mine. Dodge doesn't sell it seperate from the entire cannister whoch doesnt hardly make sense since it is a seperate piece. Since mine was torn as yours and I was going to install a drawstraw I bit the bullet and purchased a modified liberty cannister from Vulcan Performance

It was a complete drop in affair for my 01 and came with upgraded fittings and new fuel level sender and was 1/2 the price of the stock one. It has been working fine for over a year now with no problems.
I would call Vulcan they may have some old cannisters laying around and may be willing to send you the bottom screen. Also there are some members who have redone their system and taken the cannister out might be worth posting a wanted add in the classifieds.

Mine was destroyed when inspected during sending unit replace. Tore the screen out and cut aluminum screen to fit. Drilled holes in plastic and found small nails to use as rivets. Looked good on install. Hopefully will be another 100,000 miles before get to see how it held up.

I'm going to drop the tank tonight and see if I can modify the puck somehow. I know the the plastic screen has superfine holes in it so I doubt anything I do is going to be of any significant help.
