Fuel filter canister
I did a big line kit with an inline filter on my 02 cummins and i was wondering if i could pull off the factory canister and other crap on the side of the block. If so will it throgh codes with all that stuff unpluged? Thanks Nathan!!
I pulled mine on my 98.5 without any problems just used a couple of spacers to make up diff. where it bolts 2 head. Some guys will say that the filter should stay in use. I think my air dog will do the job just fine being less the fact. filter. Nate
What do you mean with a couple of spacers in place, what about the wiring?
On my 01, I just cut the canister just after the bolt holes, rounded all the edges and used that as my spacer.
As far as the wiring you can just tape it up then zip tie it up somewhere if you would like.
The bolts that are used to attach the Fuel Filter Canister to the head do not have threads running all the way up them. So once you remove that canister (say 1/2" give or take) the bolts have nothing to clamp down to on the intake plenum.

It wont throw any codes not having that hooked up??

it has the fuel heater in it................
i realize the fuel heater is in there, but a local here in our chapter removed his canister and found his elements to be broken anyway - so it's tough to say how many of our stock canisters are still heating the fuel . . .
you could just used washers to get the bolts tight again . . . instead of cutting up the stock canister.
