Front brake calipers on a 2001
I think I need new brake calipers.
I changed out my brake pads the other day after on 8 months of use on them. They usually last me longer than that. I think one side is sticking.
Every morning when I get ready to leave for work, I back out of the driveway, and the first time I hit the brakes it feels like they are locking up. ITs like a sudden slam of the brakes, but i am barely putting pressure on the pedal.
I will be doing this job myself, and I have never disconnected a brake line before. So any suggestions on bleeding brake lines, or putting them back together would help. Also, how much do these rebuilt calipers cost?

The rebuilts from O'reilly's are $66/piece. I'm wondering if I need new ones cause I have to replace my pads once a year (had to since I've owned the truck) and I don't tow. Have you ever noticed one of the pads wearing quicker than the other one?
It is normal for the inside to wear faster than the outside, even if the slides are working properly.
If the drivers side is worn considerably more as you say, you probably do have a caliper problem. Unfortunately, the proper method is to never replace one caliper IMO. They should always be replaced in pairs.
Pretty straight forward job. Since you have done brake jobs in the past, you should have no problems.
Consider replacing or upgrading your front brake hoses as long as you are at it. And of course, bleed the system until you have fresh fluid coming out the bleeders.

When you get under there with that caliper, could you measure between the bolt centers on the caliper adapter for me? I'm talking about the part that actually bolts to the steering knuckle (the caliper is then bolted to the adapter). I'm engineering something and need to know that measurement.

Are you sure it's the front brakes that are grabbing? My truck has this same problem every morning but it's the rear brakes that want to lockup. See this thread. I always drive off going forward, though, so I've never noticed if it does it backing up. Just wanted to throw that out there - might save you $120 on changing out a couple of calipers if it's not needed.

That's why I need someone with a 2000 or newer to measure those bolt centers.
