Freight Liner FL70 W/ 24v high idle

I would like to lower the idle on my 2001 Fl 70 with 6 sp eaton tranny. the throtle is electronic so there is no cable to stick. was advised to disconect batt's for overnite, while I wait for the computor to drain I'd like to ask for other ideas. It's idleing at 950 now what should it be? the tag on the engine shows idle at 800, that seems kinda high. thanks

You need to verify that the engine is actually turning 950rpm. Use an optical tach on the vibration damper. Verify the actual engine speed to the dash display. Then go from there. Don't assume its the engine.

On our 24 valve Freightliner at work I had to use the Cummins Insight diagnostic software we have to lower the idle to 675 rpm.
Not sure if there is another way. I do know on our 2006 Internationals with the ISX's you can use the cruise control switches to lower it. With them you turn off the cruise "on/off switch" and then toggle the "set/accelerate" switch to raise or lower it.
