Filter changes

So I am planning on oil change intervals every 5K miles with a oil filter change at the same time...I have a FASS 150/95-1008 and was wondering if it would be a good idea to change the fuel filter on the FASS at the same interval? How about the water seperator unit, shall I change that then as well or would it be fine just to drain it and change it every other oil change (or 5K period)? I use fleetguard filters for my oil filter, my FASS fuel filter, and my FASS water seperator filter. I am no longer using my stock fuel filter, the stock housing and fuel filter & plumbing etc. have been removed when the FASS was put in.

Any advice would help...I didn't find a call in customer serivice number on FASS website so I wanted to post to see what folks who were running a similar setup with experience on this stuff had to say.

thanks :)

Just my .02 but from what I've exp I change the oil filter and fuel filter 2x/year -OR- Only because the 1. the fp drops and I then know the filters needs to be changed, 2. when the oil becomes dirty. If I see the oil getting dirty I just throw on another wix and it clears up. On a new vehicle you're going to keep for 1m miles think about a bypass filter set up.

You can change your oil and filter every 5k miles, but the best way to tell when it needs done is to do an oil analysis every once in awhile.
As for the FASS filters, if you have the bigger filters instead of the newer, shorter onces, then I think they figure you can go about 30,000miles, but I would just run them until you see your fuel pressure start to drop a bit. I've only had mine on for a few thousand miles, so I havn't had to do it yet. As for the water seperator, I'd drain it every oil change just to make sure any water it has collected gets out. And according to the FASS manual, you can wash the fuel/water seperator out with solvent.

I've changed my FASS filters twice in roughly 60k km, the last time only because I changed pumps as well. I drained the water seperator out once in the first week, and when I changed the filters for the first time. Not a single drop of water, so I just leave it now.

Oil gets changed around 10k mark (thats kilometres), filter as well. Air filter gets changed when its hard to see much light through it.

I have the FASS and have not touched the filter since Keith put the system on going on four years ago now (around 50000 miles). I did drain the separator about three times. FP is 17 psi every time all the time.
I run synthetic oil and a dual remote filter system on the oil side. I change the main oil filter every 5000 and the oil and both filters every 25000 miles. Not a recommendation, just letting you know how I do it.

I ran my last oil change to 17,000Kms and did an oil sample, came back not even 1/2 used, I'm 10'000Kms into my next oil change when I hit 25,000 I'll have a sample done to see how its doing.
BTW I use amsoil 15W 40 and their new EA filters,

I ran the same oil in my 89 for four and a half years with the dual remote and at 60000 miles, the oil was still good. Again, not a recommendation, just the facts as I know them. In my personal opinion, we throw away a lot of good oil in this country because we are so use to the old 3000 mile oil changes from years gone by. But hey, that's cool. Afterall, the oil companies are broke and need money too right. [verymad] [tapdshut]
