fan nut

Well, I am working on a wrecked 99 and can't seem to get the fan off, had a bar holding belts tight so not to move and a wrench on the nut behind fan, but would not budge any suggestions? need to replace fan before I can reasemble the truck! thanks.

What he said. You can also crack it with a hammer one good shot on the end of the wrench. Just make sure you know which way it threads!!!!

If you have a lot of patience, you can remove the 4 bolts holding the fan bracket onto the block.

You will need to back out one of them a couple of flats at a time as you ease the fan bracket away from the block. Its easier if you also loosen the cable clamp above it and push the cable out of the way. Also, attach some line to the bracket to keep it from rotating downward after you remove the last bolt.

I already have the 4 bolts off fan, there is nothing in my way because the fenders radiator and radiator support and fan shroud are all off the truck. I am rebuilding a wrecked 99 for a guy and it needed a new font clip. the fan is bent and the radiator has a hole in it from fan so needs to all be replaced.

I just take big pumps hold the hub with them and use an adjustable on the nut. Never had a problem.
