engjne swap

I have a 24 valve that likes vp44 pumps. Can I swap in a 2004 common rail into a 2001 without a ton of problem's?

Thanks for clarification on that.

I was hopeing to get some solid input on an engine swap. I have spent enough on vp44 pumps to put dent in the price of a common rail engine. I have all the upgrades to prevent vp failure, big line kit, after market pump, and fuel pressure gage. My truck meets all my needs except for the reliability isses with the pump failures so I dont really want to buy another truck.

I'd say if someone can put a common rail in a Ford, then it's at least as easy as putting it into an older Dodge. At least the transmission and accessories are right there.

When you say "Can I swap in a 2004 Common rail" I assume you mean the complete common rail engine into the 2001????

If I were u I would look into the 03 automatic under hood wiring diagrams and see if it is similar to 01-02 truck. Because they use a ECM and a (tcm "pcm" ) it may be easier to swap in that harness, than a 04
