You say 1693 is a companion code? It's the only one my truck is showing, so I don't think I have any others set...
I've got another thread going -what's up with my truck.
Any ideas? Sorry to hijack the thread, but I need this truck for work.
Thanks, AUstin

No problem. I'm not a cummins tech, all I can tell you is what I've seen. I've had two codes thrown so far, 0500 and 0234. Each time they came up, 1693 came with them. Each time I took it to autozone to have them clear it, the only code they read was either 0500 or 0234. Nothing was said about 1693, it just went away when the others were cleared. Either you do have another code in there and just didn't see it (I can't remember if 1693 comes first or last), or you had a code at one time, it cleared itself after so many starts, and now 1693 just lingers telling you that a code was thrown. As I understand it, 1693 doesn't tell you anything by itself. A lift pump will die and never throw a code; an injection pump will die and it might throw a code, it might not. Do you have a fuel gauge?
PS Your problem sounds like an injection pump (miss at low rpms, fine at higher rpms?, and resets by shutting it off). Without a code, the only way a dealer will warranty it is if that happens while they're in it, so drop by and take a tech for a ride sometime.
