WELL, Never heard of a CTD getting stolen!!! I am a little sensitive to this because one mine was stolen Sunday. 2 1/2 hours from when we parked in our apartment parking space till we found it gone. Had it for three weeks. I have parked my 99 in the same space for a year 1/2. There was no glass on the ground, just no truck.

I think I'll try the fuse till I move out of the apartment. If they come into my garage to get it after we move they will not leave.

I take out the fuel pump relay when I am staying in a hotel or going somewhere sketchy away from the car for a long time.

The Club always. You can make fun but it is just another annoyance to them.

Physical fuel shut off valve hidden.

Neutral safety switch switch haven't done this yet.... but would like to.

They could still tow it away...

When I go to work I only do the physical fuel shut off and the Club so after they cut the steering wheel, start the truck and drive away, it'll die on them within about 15 seconds and even if they locate the valve, they'd have to prime the system to start it again which I've never been able to do using just the "bump" method from running it completely dry.

Yes I forget to turn it back on, way more often then I'd like but hey.... a new VP44 is better than a stolen truck.

Even if insurance would/will pay for it, they're not going to pay for the HOURS and HOURS i've spent tinkering with crap, installing my mods, the mods themselves, personal items in the car (think $300 pair of glasses, tools, etc).

Ah well...

I know people kind of chuckle at me but we had another one today:

Not exactly the most desirable and it is gone. I know all of these people so reading these makes me cautious!

Whats even worse is people would rather have a theif hack up their vehicle stealing it than steal it cleanly and get it either recovered or have insurance pay for it.

Alright, it was bugging me, so I went out to the truck, good thing I did. The brake disabler is called the AutoLock (http://www.autobarn.net/autolockpro.html) and the fuse to pull is #9, inside the cab.

Good Luck,

Casey

Just make sure you don't get distracted and forget to remove it. My wife did that before we were married with her Wrangler. She ended up taking on a Fire Hydrent instead of my six month old Cherokee. She still hears about that one from everbody, but me. I just laugh along.

I've never had a vehicle stolen, but I've had 3 break ins.

Window smashed and stuff missing, and you can never remember all that you had in there to even try to have the insurance pay for what they took.

Anything that would give the thief trouble will make them go look for an easier target.

Alarm with a visible flashing LED, or heck, just a flashing LED might make them move on.
They'll skip the truck with the club if there is another sitting next to it without it.

Nothing will stop them if they really want the vehicle though, nothing.

All you have to do is make your neighbors car seem like an easier target. Burgler alarms are nothing more than a nuisance, they do not bother a car theif at all. They just bother your neighbors.

If you really want to keep it from being stolen hide a secondary switch under the dash somewhere that you have to turn on before it will start.

Use a fuel cut off solonoid and a switch mounted somewhere that you turn off.

Make sure you park under lights that are on all the time and its out in the open.

Or you could beat it up with a sledgehammer so it looks like crap, nobody would steal it then

On my 1960 ford I used the cigarrett lighter housing as a switch to disable the starter relay. The wires that normaly supply power to the lighter socket are hooked up to power a small relay that closes the circuit to the starter relay when the lighter is pushed in. When I leave the truck parked I take the lighter with me. The lighter socket still appears stock, and not many people would think that a missing lighter would keep the truck from starting.

There are now no easy ways to protect the truck. Someone has posted all of the solutions on a public web forum!

Yep, and by the time the perp checks all of the possibilites, he'd have a baseball bat or ? up side his head. He's have to start carrying fuses and diagnosis tools, and know probably more than a DC tech. lol.

One more thing not mentioned, get a boot for your tire. http://www.tirelock.com/

Not sure that even covers it, you could try a pitbull or rottwieler security system

Just remember, if they are pros and want your truck, it is gone in 60 seconds. Best bet is to keep your insurance premiums paid.

L8er,

Casey

I forgot we used to hook a coil up to the door handle. That always gave people a good jolt when they tried to open the door.
