Do I need a valve adjustment?

While I was installing some RV275 injectors yesterday, I noticed some of the angled metal things (not sure what they are called) that sit on top of the valve springs were loose and some were tight. Is this normal?

Some lose and some tight is normal but if you have hit the 100,000 mark it's always a good thing to do. If they are really out you will hear them under acceleration sounding like a bunch of very quick tappings. Also a good thing to check if lack of power and fuel economy are an issue.

Some tight and some loose are normal. Just depends on how the camshaft is positioned at shutdown. Adjustment is easy, just as easy as replacing injectors. Check out my gallery for good picture of when I did my valves. There is also a good article in the TECH FACTS section of this website. Unfortunately the article does not have pictures, but you can reference off of mine.

100,000 miles is a good time to do the valves. I did mine at 80,000.
