Dead Pedal, Temp Pegs, Codes, and more codes
 

Loss power (dead pedal), cruise control light going on and off (was not using cruise control). Temp peged 240 than occasionally fluctuates 140 back up to 240. Engine did not appear to be that hot. Checked oil immediately after turning off engine. Oil temp on stick seemed about normal. Sprinkled a little water on head it did not immediately evaporate. I don't have a code reader. Turned key on without starting engine to check codes. With key on but not started temp fluctuated 140 back up to 240 several time, oil gauge went up to 40. Codes - P PCU, P 1693, P done, P ECU, P 0575, P 0522, P 0562, P 0237, P 1488, P 0342, P 0112, P 0606, P done. Fuel preasure 16 lbs.

For the dead pedal i would check out BLue Chip Diesels site they have a great diagnosis section. As for the guages is sounds like maybe a bad sending unit. Hope this helps

Thanks I'm going to check the site.. I know what I did wrong I just don't know what happened to whatever when I grouned that wire out....

I let the truck set for the Easter weekend and got a ride to work today. As soon as I got home I drove the truck about 2 miles to Auto Zone. After about a block started losing power (dead pedal). Within the first 1/2 mile temp was fluctuating up and down 140 to 240. Occasionally temp would be at about normal (190). Cruise control light occasionally going on and off on its own.. Auto Zone's code reader showed p0606, p0238, p0237, p0122, p0117, p0112. I checked Blue Chip Diesels site along with others and came up with nothing.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

P0606 (M) ECM Failure ECM Internal fault condition detected.
P0238 (M) Map Sensor Voltage Too High MAP sensor voltage input above the maximum
acceptable voltage.
P0237 (M) Map Sensor Voltage Too Low MAP sensor voltage input below the minimum acceptable
voltage.
P0122 (M) Throttle Position Sensor Voltage Low Throttle position sensor input below the acceptable
voltage range.
P0117 (M) ECT Sensor Voltage Too Low Engine coolant temperature sensor input below the
minimum acceptable voltage.
P0112 (M) Intake Air Temp Sensor Voltage Low Intake air (charge) temperature sensor input below the
minimum acceptable voltage.
The P0606 has me very concerned. As a rule, with that many codes, it's either a ground issue or an ECM/PCM issue. I would start with a thorough cleaning of the grounds to eliminate that possibility.

Agreed, with that many "electrical circuts" "out of range" you have some sort of battery/ground issue going on...

the 606 is the bad guy to me as well...

237/238/122...explains the dead pedal issue....237/238 are boost MAP sensor issues and well 122 throttle thats kinda self explainatory...

117/112 both temp related...coolant sensor explains the flux at the guage and

that 606 is an issue though...start with a good battery/cable cleaning also make sure the negative cable/lugs are secure then do a load test on the batteries...

From there lets hope you dont have electrical gremlins hiding in the ECM....

Two years later and still not fixed. In April 2010 I had both the PCM and ECM rebuilt. Shipped them to Auto Computer Exchange got them back, installed them, same problem. Shipped them back to Auto Computer Exchange. I got the PCM and ECM back but never put them back in the truck. They said they rebuilt them again but I must have a short in my truck due to lighting, welding,jump starting other vehicles, ect. They also said I needed to find the short before I installed the PCM and ECM. I had a couple of auto mechanics look at the truck but never found a short. Anyone have any ideas or know a mechanic near Houston that can help?
