Dana 60 yoke and U joint

I was out plowing snow Lastnight when I felt a pop and felt something floppin around under the truck.. Somehow I managed to spin the U joint at the axle on the front driveshaft, and the shaft poped out of the yoke.. Looks like one of the bolts for the strap backed out 1/2 of the way..:o. I was able to ratchet strap the shaft to the frame, and finish the night in 2wd.. So it looks like the yoke is kinda chewed up, and ill be replcing it with a new one and a Spicer U joint..

If I remember correctly these Dana 60 do not use crush sleeves, only shims??
Where is everyone getting Spicer parts from these days?
Anyone have the spicer U joint part number? I believe I was running a precision 354.

I although a pain, I consider myself lucky as I was only going about 3mph when the shaft let go. Nothing else was damaged.. I appreciate the help!

Did you get this worked out?

My local driveline shop has all the spicer stuff. Do you have one where you live?

Yeah, I think I'm on the right track. Replacement Spicer joint was a 1330 series.. looks like I will be able to reuse the yoke, if I can get the broken strap bolt drilled out. If not I'm debating drilling all holes to 5/16 and running U bolts instead of straps for the U joint itself.. seems to me like the U bolts are stronger as long as a guy doesn't overtorque them and crush the U joint cap... How do you feel about eliminating the straps for u bolts?

Ill never touch a Precision U Joint again...[dummy]

Well I had take it to a buddy's shop and have one of his guys do it. He took the yoke off and was able to drill it out in a press and run a tap thru it. Slapped a new pinion seal in and set the pinion preload torque within 5 in/lbs of what it was before he removed the yoke..

First time I have ever let someone else work on the truck since I bought it 7 years ago, due to how often it has been snowing and daily high temps around 0 degrees..

Back on the road and ready to plow!
