Sorry all, I've been out of town for a few weeks. I'll try to answer some questions and add to the twist. The truck is a 2000, 2500, R/C, 4x4. The reason I replaced the belt is because it was riding to the inside of the pulleys and rubbing (69,xxx miles) It was noticed during normal PM. As I had never changed a serp before, I let the dealer do it. About 700 miles later it shredding going down the road, so I took it back. The next one started to jump about 700 miles later. The latest one started to jump today (72,070 miles), so back it goes for the 4th time in 2 months. The dealer had the nuts to send me bills for the other 2 belts that were replaced. Last night when fueling I could really see the tensioner bouncing more than I thought it should. I spoke with a farmer that has a C-series in his Case/IH Magnum tractor. He said each time a belt goes, replace the tensioner. This was repeated by another mechanic. I spoke with another dealer and they said the dealer doing my current work must not know what they are doing. They should have called the 5-star line long ago. To answer other questions, all pulleys are good, nothing has been cranked on or buggered up, compressor is good. I have wondered about rerouting the blow-by. It's only had 1/2 cup of blow-by in 72,xxxx miles. The dealer should begin to wonder when I haul the Dodge in with my '79 F-250. The neighbors think its neat that i have a trailer broke pick-up. I'll keep yall updated. A pic of the beast will come soon. Thanks for all the advice so far.

I went with the AutoZone Goodyear Gator Back Belt 22.99. part # 4080810 8PK2055 I did this because of the "squeak" when I would shut off the truck.
I don't know what the HP increase has been with it, I will dyno soon to find out. With out the stickers it can't be much. Stickers go a long way for HP. This is a proven fact the more stickers one has the more HP.
No more "squeak" 15,000 miles I also relocated the puke bottle to the trash and put on a 3/4 black heater hose to hang down under. This works good but not as good as the hole cut in the valve cover with the GM breather. Now that looks GREAT. I will have to check this one out. OF

I find the biggest HP gains are brought on by big bright driving lights and spoilers they add huge HP kinda like new runners make you faster.

The belt tensioner is my place to start. The pulley will be fine the problem will be in the spring area. It will get worn and let the pulley run out of line. Its easy to replace (only one bolt and only one way it will fit)The jumping that you have described is a very good indicator that you have found the problem that the ******* can/will not.<br><br>As for this HP debate don’t forget about the two 102” whip antennas with the coon tail on them, studies have shown this will add 50hp. Before the addition of stickers .this HP will only show up however after you have driven through the drive trough bank and broken all of the Florissant lights. <br>

Well, its back on the road. The dealer replaced the tensioner and the serp (the 3rd in 2700 miles). Talked to the store owner and he is going to take care of the 3 belts it ate. A civil conversation (and a call to DC) goes a ways I guess. He did say however, DC provides poor support; tech, sales, etc. Stay tuned for the results of the latest repair. (By the way, DC said that the opinion of an independant mechanic means nothing to DC)

If you have more problems, check the fan bearing with the belt off. Mine went bad, might be locking up the belt. It is not usually checked.

We have had problems with the belt tensioners on a couple of our tractors that has Cummins in them. One of the specially cause it was a high houred tractor when we traded it, we would throw a belt on it every month just like clock work for three or four months before we traded it. We didn't want to put anymore money into a 7500 hour tractor that was used everyday for a minimum or 3 to 4 hours.
