Cruise Control

Cruise control doesn't work on my truck. I am looking for a starting point. I was wondering about the clockspring that I have heard about on here. Does anyone have a diagram or instructions on how to get to this piece? Or is there someplace else I should start? Also the seatbelt light stays lit up all the time not sure if this would indicate anything else? Any help would be appreciated
THANKS

Vacuum leak. I don't know where to start, but other than a blown fuse, you are probably looking for a leak.

If equipped, does your 4WD work?

Seatbelt light is probably that harness under you driver seat. My 2001 used to flicker all the time, with the belt fastened, really ticked me off.

I went under there and disconnected.re-connected it and giggled it around a bit (you know, the fix all for electrical connections!), worked as it should after that.

I'm having the same problem with my cruise...I think its the switch, because the ON switch stays pressed in 99% of the time, and it has 232K miles on it, so thats a lot on a switch that gets used fairly often.

Not to hijack but I have a similar problem.....sometimes the cruise works, sometimes it doesn't. The light comes on the dash but when I set the speed, nothing happens.....checked for DTC's and I get a 1595 "cruise control solenoid circuit A". Does this sound like a potential clock spring issue? I really don't think it has anything to do with vacuum since the problem is intermitent....this DTC leads me to believe it is electrical.

SKINNERBOY and Need95-00CTD,

Do you have this DTC present?

No I am showing no codes whatsoever. The one thing I forgot to mention is that my dash light doesn't light up at all. I assume that the word "CRUISE" comes on somewhere like my wifes '00 Durango. Haven't had a chance to dig into this yet.
