Cracked trailer hitch??

I noticed yesterday that my trailer hitch is cracked on both sides. I bought the truck used, so I am not sure of its towing history. Has anyone else had their trailer hitch crack like the shown in the attached pictures? I will sandblast, weld, and reinforce the hitch to make it better than new.

Put them in your album, then you can attach them to the post.

This thread has good instructions.

A bit down in the post, after the tomfoolery.

You need to call your local dealer and have them run a check on any outstanding recalls or if you want to pm me with your vin # and I can check it for you. There was one that called for inspecting the receiver hitch and adding supports. If any cracks or signs of stress were present we were to replace the hitch. Never saw a bad hitch, but put plenty of supports on. Drilling the frame and hitch was a major pain in the hiney.

Mine was replaced on that recall. The recall though only calls for reinforcing it. Sometimes they just replace it.

I had that recall notice on my truck, they changed out the whole hitch on mine due to the cracks so I would check with the dealer

Thanks for the TSB on the hitch. I called the dealership and they told me to bring the truck in. I already have taken the hitch off the truck thinking I was going to repair it. Looks like I will be getting a new hitch. Hopefully they will just hand it over and I will install it myself. (I do not like anyone working on my things) I sure am glad I was working on the truck and looked up at the hitch. That surely would have broken at some point.

Oh no! My cracked hitch is held by three bolts on each side. So it is already the updated? Shoot, still a POS.
