Charged Air System
Charged Air System
The "Smoking Issues" thread got me to thinking...mainly this post:
my 02 is completely stock as far as i know with the exception of a brake controller and exhaust brake. i have only had it for ~6000miles. My truck only smokes a little if i get on it hard in 2nd and slightly more in 3rd under hard acceleration. the smoke only comes after the turbo is spooled up to ~20psi. Additionally, it sounds like there is a small air leak once the turbo is spooled up. I dont know that its coming from the charged air system. The "air leak" sounds similar to what the exhaust brake sounds like at idle only quieter.
is this a normal sound for the charged air system to make? i have no problem maintaining boost. it stays virtually constant with the cruise control engaged on flat ground.
is there a way to check for leaks aside from a concoction to pressurize the system? can i just start the truck and spray around with soapy water? If i have to pressurize it, what is the easiest/cheapest way to do so?
