I've recently noticed a distinctive "burning"(paper, trash?) smell coming from the exhaust after replacing (in the last 4000 miles) the lift pump, injection pump, water pump, and all the inner and outer timing belt cover seals/gaskets. I don't smell it inside the cab. Ideas? 270,000 miles.

I have a problem with small furry or feathered critters moving into whatever vehicle I don't drive every day. Sometimes the wife's car smells like a grass fire because she only drives it once a week.
